In course of a research there was studied use of a near infrared spectroscopy for the evaluation of spring wheat (Triticum aestivum) quality by sedimentation index. The selection samples and varieties of spring wheat, which were grown in field conditions of the Scientific and Practical Center for Arable Farming of the National Academy of Sciences (Belarus), were used as a material for research in 2006, 2007 and 2009. Breeding material of spring wheat was evaluated by sedimentation index. Grain spectra was measured with use of a scanning spectrometer (NIRSystems 5000, USA) in a range of wave lengths of 1100-2500 nanometers with scanning step 2 nanometers. Processing of spectra and calculation regressive models were carried out with use of a program WinISI v. 1.02 (InfraSoft, USA), entering into the spectrometer complete set. Based on the comparative analysis with the method for determination by swelling in 2% solution of acetic acid it was concluded that the use of near infrared spectroscopy for screening the samples with high baking qualities was a prospective method.
