In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus in 2009–2011 at the experimental field 'Tushkovo' of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy there was analyzed harmfulness of annual dicotyledonous weeds (corn mayweed (Matricaria inodora); winterweed (Stellaria media); field pansy (Viola arvensis); lamb's-quarters (Chenopodium album); cleavers (Gallum aparine); common fumitory (Fumaria officinalis); hemp-nettle (Galeopsis tetrahit)) in sowings of sunflower (Helianthus annuus) and economic threshold of harmful effect. Research results showed that the absence of chemical protection of sunflower against annual dicotyledonous weeds led to the decrease of seed productivity by 2.20–2.92 t/ha, or by 68.9–69.7%. The biggest weight losses of yield of sunflower (calculated per one weed) were noted with the presence of 10 weeds per 1 m2 and amounted to 0.205–0.25 t/ha, and the least losses – in the variant with 100 weeds (0.057–0.062 t/ha). We have established the economic threshold of harmfulness for annual dicotyledonous weeds in crops of sunflower, which amounted up to 19.1 weeds/m2.
