Inheritance of foreign character in sexual progeny of transgenic potato | Наследование чужеродных признаков в генеративном потомстве трансгенных растений картофеля

A sexual progeny of transgenic potato (Solanum tuberosum) plants cultivar Belorussky 3 with a reporter gene npt II and a target coat protein gene of the potato virus Y (CP PVY) were tested for expression of foreign genes. The analysis of experimental results revealed: - the seedlings of transgenic potatoes which were growing on a selective medium with kanamycin were splitting on three phenotypes: 'implanted', 'green without roots' and 'white or etiolated'. Although, theoretically expected the appearance of two phenotypes: 'implanted' and 'white or etiolated'; - the presence of hybrids-carriers of npt II shown among the seedling phenotype 'green without roots' according to PCR-results. There were revealed differences of crosses with transgenic potato as a result of field experiments of the kanamycin-resistant hybrids to PVY resistance. The number of PVY-resistant hybrids with stable expression of the target character during vegetative propagation was different in crosses. Analysis of long-term experiment results on the expression of reporter and target characters for transgenic hybrids showed the absence of linked inheritance of foreign genes, but among the hybrids with the expression of marker character is likely to be found the forms with the expression of the target character.
