chinois.

The erect panicle rice cultivar Shennong 07425 and the curved panicle rice cultivar Akihikari were used to study the sensitivity to nitrogen fertilizer under different nitrogen levels. The results showed that increasing application of nitrogen fertilizer enhanced plant height, number of tillers, chlorophyll content(SPAD value) and leaf area per plant within a certain range. The enhanced rate of nitrogen to plant height in Shennong07425 was 10.81%-25.72%,and it was 0.63%-15.69% in Akihikari. The enhanced rate of nitrogen to tillers in Shennong07425 was 46.27%-79.92%,and 17.39%-54.17% in Akihikari. The enhanced rate of nitrogen to leaf area per plant in Shennong07425 attained 12.71%-278.41%,and 22.34%-259.82% in Akihikari. The enhanced rate of nitrogen to SPAD value in Shennong07425 attained 13.29%-101.86%,and it reached 9.08%-63.74% in Akihikari except much higher SPAD value in tillering stage. And there were obvious diffrences on sensitivity to nitrogen between Shennong 07425 and Akihikari. The erect panicle rice Shennong 07425 exhibited greater sensitivity to nitrogen than Akihikari. The erect panicle rice was more suitable for high nitrogen level.
