[Objective] the objective of this experiment is to evaluate the effect of calcium and JA on the expression of CBF in spinach. [Methods] The seedlings of spinach were treated with low temperature (4 ), JA or A23187, then detected the expression of CBF by northern blotting. [Results] The results showed that low temperature and JA regulated the CBF expression positively. [Conclusions] Low temperature may increase the JA content of the cell firstly, then JA induced the increase of cytosolic calcium concentration ([Ca2+]cyt), and the JA induced Ca2+ transmit the low temperature signal through CaM or CaM related proteins, and regulated the CBF expression.
