The aim of this study was to compare the nutritive value of straw from Elite hulles barley varieties in order to use the information as an index for selecting the superior varieties. Six varieties including EHBYTM80-1, EHBYTM80-2, EHBYTM80-5, EHBYTM80-7, EHBYTM80-11 and EHBYTM80-18 were investigated. Samples were botanical fractionated and percentage of leaf, stem and node were determined and chemical composition (CP, CF, NDF, ADF, ADL and Ash) of straws and their botanical fractions were measured. Ferment ability of samples was measured using gas production technique. The results showed that there was no difference in botanical fractionation between six varieties. In chemical composition, the only difference was observed in Ash and ADL content of cold and temperate varieties. Statistical analysis of chemical composition of leaf, stem and node from all varieties showed that leaf were different is Ash, stem were different in ADL and Ash and nodes were different in CP. Results of gas production technique showed that nutritive value of barley straw from Ehbytm80-11 was more as compared to straw from other variety. Significant differences were observed among varieties in chemical composition.
