The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of three levels of metabolizable energy (1.8, 2.1 and 2.4 Mcal/kgDM) and three crude protein levels (8, 10 and 12 %) on fattening performance and carcass characteristics of native goat kids in Ilam province. In this trial 81 male kids with 11.50±0.22 kg initial weight were used. A factorial experiment (3×3) basis of completely randomized design with 9 diets, 3 replication and 3 observations in each replication was used. The goat kids were fed for 90 days and average daily gain, daily dry matter intake and feed conversion ratio in 30 days interval were calculated. At the end of trial, the animals were slaughtered and carcass characteristics were determined. The results showed that, average daily gain, daily dry matter intake and feed conversion ratio of different diets (1-9) were 55.68, 61.79, 62.84, 70.50, 77.66, 78.52, 84.26, 87.53 and 88.40 (g/day); 729.94, 716.55, 770.29, 797.31, 881.28, 831.99, 903.91, 837.57 and 826.03 (g/day); 13.18, 11.69, 12.28, 11.32, 11.35, 10.62, 10.94, 9.64 and 9.82 respectively, that were significantly differences between treatments (P0.05). The carcass weight and dressing percentage for different diets were 6.71, 6.84, 7.31, 7.22, 7.42, 8.11, 8.27, 8.75 and 8.41 (kg); 40.56, 40.07, 42.51, 40.40, 40.08, 43.64, 43.37, 45.17 and 43.15 percent respectively, that were significant differences between treatments (P0.05). Diets have significant effects on carcass cuts and the proportions of the different cuts (related to the live weight) (P0.05). Mass of internal fat differed between diets (P0.05). As a whole, the results of growth performance and economic evaluation indicated that the diet with 2.4 Mcal ME/kgDM and 10 % CP was the best for fattening of native goat kids of Ilam province
