Study on reaction of early maturing maize lines and hybrids to Fusarium ear rot
2012
Zamani, Majid | Mohseni, Masoud
In order to study on the reaction of early maturing maize genotypes resistance to Fusarium ear rot, an experiment was carried out with 40 genotypes with three replications in RCBD at Karaj and Sari Station In 2010. In this study, inoculation method carried out by nail punch at flowering stage. Evaluation of the plants was conducted by disease severity index (1-6) at physiological maturity stage. The results of variance analysis and mean comparison showed that three genotypes were susceptible to disease in 2010. Line no.(36) KE 84019/131 was the most susceptible. Among hybrids KE 77007/1 x K 1264/5-1 was tolerant to Fusarium ear rot. Also in 2012 ,based on the results of variance analysis and mean comparison was found that none of maize genotypes were not highly susceptible to Fusarium ear rot and understood that screening process was correctly conducted. In this study, two resistant hybrids to Fusarium ear rot No.(16) KE 75016/321 x K 1264/5-1 and No. (32) KE 77007/1 x K 1264/5-1 identified and confirmed to be introduced for using in next program.
