in plants with Iron deficiency, total iron is not valid index for leaf chlorosis. this experiment was conducted to select the best extractor solution in the process of chlorosis of Active iron in four major crops of the area including: citrus, grape, potatoes and soybean at the Safi Abad agricultural research center of Dezful ,Iran. Thirty samples from each crop was taken and their chlorophyll level was determined by chlorophyll meter and their iron content was also determined by the following methods: a)1,10 phenanthroline method b)2,2 dipyridiel method c)buffer citrate method d) total iron .for statistical analysis , regression curves between used procedures and leaf chlorophyll content were drowned . then results were analyzed with SPSS software and statistic index such as 2 R and SE were determined. results of the experiments indicated that total amount of iron is not a suitable extractant for evaluating the amount of iron deficiency in plants. 1,10 phenanthroline method was the best extractor of active iron for the citrus, grapes, potatoes and soybean crops. atomic absorbtion device was superior to spectrophotometry for reading, Index of active iron to total iron for aforementioned crops was also determined.
