The authors carried out extensive surveys to establish the grade of susceptibility of Hungarian Colorado beetle populations towards pyrethroids. From among the populations studied the one collected in Bakonyszombathely on the 20th June 1987 proved to be the most resistant. The larvae collected there were 6.7 times more resistant to permethrine and 3,2 times more resistant to chinmix than the ones of the most susceptible sample. In the same Bakonyszombathely plot small-scale experiments were carried out with Chinmix 5 EC, a pyrethroid preparation to be registered. It was found that in spite of the reduced susceptibility of the population to pyrethroids the chemical yielded good results of a dosage of 0.2 lit./hectare.
