Collection and evaluation of different cigar filler tobacco from Cotabato and Maguindanao [Philippines].

Significant differences were noted in the number of days to flower (65-93 DAT), plant height (192-289 cm) insect damage rating at 70 DAT (2.7-5.8) and specific leaf weight (3.02-3.87 mg/sq cm) among selection evaluated. Leaf area (1177-1490 sq cm), insect damage rating at 50 DAT (1.5-3.0), total number of harvested leaves (21-26), and cured yield (1.55-3.09 t/ha) did not vary among selections. Selection 18, collected from Pagagawan, Pagalunga, Maguindanao and Siminabaya yielded 3.09 and 3.02 tons/ha. Except selections 4,15,19,20 and Munoz, all other selections yielded more than 2 tons/ha.
