The IICA - IDB program for the analysis of the agricultural policy with regard to formal food producers in the Southern zone, the Andes and Caribbean area is part of the second phase of a program which includes 18 countries in Latin America and the caribbean with the purpose of the economic progress of rural women. This report is one of the three documents which presents the findings of each country and gives recommendations and action plans for the reinforcement of female food producers in the four areas of program research which are presented in the reports: "Assessment and Policy", "Technology and Marketing" and "National Summary". This document contains the most important findings of a study of over 150 female food producers in small scale agrarian production systems. This document presents a frame for concrete actions which have to lead to the desolving of the present inequality in the availability of resources, means and services between male and female farmers.
