The effect of height of cutting and frequency of harvesting on Corchorus olitorius (L).
1980
Pwadam T.A.
Three frequencies of harvesting, 11-day, 15-day and 19-day intervals, and three heights of cutting at 4, 5 and 6 nodes above ground were used to study their effect on growth and yield of Corchorus olitorius. Plants cut at 6 node and 19-day interval gave more marketable yield than other combinations. More side shoots developed from plants cut at 6 nodes above ground. Treatments with 5 node cutting and 15-day harvesting gave the highest edible yields. No statistical differences were observed among all treatments with regard to leaf area, leaf and stem dry matter.
