DEUTSCH: Bericht ueber den Anbau von Catha edulis in Ostafrika und dem suedlichen Teil der arabischen Halbinsel. Blaetter und Zweigspitzen werden gekaut. Nachgewiesen wurde das Alkaloid Cathinon, das im Tierversuch charakteristische Wirkungen von Amphetamin hervorrief. Das Kauen von Khat fuehrt zu Suchterscheinungen und muss in pharmakologischer Hinsicht als Missbrauch von Amphetaminen angesehen werden.
