The leaves of "Rozafa" maize hybrid at the time of the removal of the ear (especially those of the medium and late ripening) have suitable characteristics for silage. The losses in eight of the nutritive values of the maize leaves are linked with the prolongation of time at which they are picked up and the way in which they are kept. Three days after the removal of the ear, these losses are 9-20% in physical weight, 14-23% in energy value and 6-13% in protein value. If they are left longer in the field, the losses will be greater.
