Sulphur requirements in Sri Lankan agriculture.
1986
Amarasiri S.L.
The average content of sulphur in soils of Sri Lanka is about 10 ppm S (4)-S while much higher values have been obtained in a few districts. The sulphur content from rainwater ranges from 5 to 25 kg S/ha per year depending on the location. This quantity is generally low compared to that coming from irrigation water, suggesting that sulphur needs of rainfed crops may be higher. Sulphur is likely to be an important plant nutrient in the future as agriculture is increasingly intensified.
