Recent results from screening activities in Florida are presented. A number of intermediate and resistant sources are identified. Breeding lines derived from resistant varieties generally had resistances comparable to their parents in spring experiments, but only one maintained that performance under summer conditions. Hybrids with any of four resistant lines as parents tended to be more resistant than the susceptible parent. Collectively, hybrids were skewed towards resistance, and genetic control based on hybrid results favours incomplete dominant gene action for these four resistant sources.
