In the milk samples of cows from one farm the Na, K, Mg, Ca and Zn concentrations were determined. The mammary gland health state was estimated on the basis of number of somatic cells in 1 ml and on the lactose level in milk from 4 quarters. The results show that in investigations on the mineral composition changes of milk by the mastitis for estimating the mammary gland health state it is better to consider the lactose content in milk than the number of somatic cells.
