Twelve foxtail millet varieties were used as experimental materials. During the developmental process, the changes of esterase isozymes and peroxidase isozymes were analysed with polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis on vertical slab. Results indicated that changes of 2 isozymes were with the law of development during the developmental process. Two zymegrams were abundant and stable in germinating stage. Bands of 2 isozymes were few, and their relative activities (content) were low in seedling stage. Bands and activities of esterase isozymes were increased with the plant growth and development. Contents of peroxidase isozymes in Px2 zone were increased with the plant growth and development. Contents of Px3 zone were decreased with plant growth and development.
