Pathological studies [in tannia (Xanthosoma sagittifolium) in the Eastern Caribbean].
1984
A root rot disease of tannia due to either a Pythium spp. alone and/or Rhizoctonia spp. is prevalent in the Eastern Caribbean. The disease may also be complicated with Fusarium spp. and low calcium availability and is characterized by premature leaf senescence, dwarfing and poor cormel yield. Evidence suggests that the poor quality of planting material and poor drainage have contributed to its widespread incidence. Limited pot and field studies indicate some reduction in the disease with fungicidal dip treatments of planting material with Ridomil MZS8. One cultivar, Toby, with poor marketability, shows some disease resistance.
