Routine metabolic rate of cockle, Anadara granosa was determined in closed - static respirometer at 28 deg Celsius and 30 ppt. salinity. Metabolic rate (mg.O2/hr.) - weight (gm.) was related as R = 0.540 W0.604 and weight specific metabolic rate (mg.O2/gm. hr.) - weight was Q = 0.551 W-0.403. Scope of routine activity ranged 4.038 folds between high and low routine activity. Critical portion of limiting level was 3.8 mg. C2/L. shell valve closed at 3.1 and lethal level was 0.8 mg. O2/L.
