European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis Hbn.) is one of the most economically important pests on corn in Cukurova Region. Number of generations per year and population changes of the pest were studied during the years of 1986-1987 in Balcali (Cucurova University Agriculture Faculty) and Dogankent (Cukurova Agricultural Research Institute) research fields. Results indicated that under field conditions the pest overwintered as diapausing mature larva inside the corn stems and stalks, and first pupa was seen by early April. Adult activity started by second half of April and from generations were observed. During the growing season the larva of the first generation was effective late May and early June. The effects of the 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th generations were observed in July, August and September respectively, the highest population density occurred in August.
