The present paper has the main purpose of classifying the 30 lettuce cultivars taking in consideration 34 phenotypical characteristics, in the greenhouse during the winter period (first modality) and in outdoors, during summer (second modality). For data processing the use of numerical taxonomy, as well as clustering (SSA and SLC) and factorial (ATD) analysis were utilized. Firstly, it was done the analysis of the phenological components with heavier influence on the total variation, being those as more important the dimensions, margin dentation, and undulation of the young leaf, dimensions and weight of the mature plant margin and undulation of the mature leaf, shape and type of head, height and thickness of the boltering stem and vegetative period. Secondly, it was done the relative partial analysis by growth phase and modality, finding that in outdoors, during summer, higher interaction genotype X environment. The commercial maturing phase was must clarifying in the discrimination of the taxonomic categories. The conjugation of both methodologies demonstrated that the crisphead cultivars are characterized by higher yields and morphological variability, while the butterhead group demonstrated lower yields but higher morphological homogeneity (author).
