The study was conducted to determine the effects of seeding rate (50 and 100 kg seeds/ha) and row spacing (20 and 25 cm) on the agronomic performance of IRRI [International Rice Research Inst., Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines] wetland drumseeder as compared to broadcast seeding using a modern rice variety IR66. Two models of the rice drumseeder with row spacings of 20 and 25 cm were respectively compared. Time of seeding was greatest for the 25 cm drumseeder at both seeding rates but the 20 cm drumseeder was comparable to broadcasting. Rice grain yields were similar for the 25 cm drumseeder at both seeding rates and these were comparable to the grain yields obtained from the 20 cm drumseeder at 100 kg/ha and broadcasting at the seeding rate. Total dry matter yields were greater at the higher seeding rate for both seeding methods. The same trend was observed for the total tillers, productive tillers and panicle number which accounted for the higher grain yields derived from the seeding rate of 100 kg/ha.
