Results on the preliminary selection aiming at reduction of melassogenic compounds (K, Na and amino N) in multigerm pollinators 2X and 3X are presented. They indicate the feasibility of selection from the population single roots and then families with lower content of unwanted constituents. Some hybrids 2X and 3X obtained with improved pollinators showed higher processing qualities as compared to standard cultivars.
