Fattening of calf to a higher slaughter weight on dry feed concentrate. Four groups of calfs (8 per group) were fattened from different average starting life weight to different average slaughter weight on dry feed concentrate and hay, the fifth - control group on liquid milk replacer: 1) from 197 to 289, 2) 156 to 246, 3) to 199, 4) 81 to 207 and 5) from 62 to 149 kg 1.w. The best daily gains, feed conversion, and meat quality (which was comparable to the veal of the milk replacer feed group), was obtained with the 4th group. The meat of the other three concentrate feed groups also had the sensory properties of veal, except the lighter color.
