The uredospore germination of race 21A-2 (75 G 5) was lower than that of 40A (62 G 29), 117A (36 G 2) and 117A-1 (38 G 18) during May-July. The uredospores produced during humid weather or at low temperature were mostly non-viable. Stem rust is surveyed during winter by mid-December or sometimes late January in Karnataka.
