Evaluacion de un atrayente feromonal en la actividad de polinizacion de abejas, Apis mellifera L. (Hymenoptera: Apidae) en frambueso cv. Heritage.

The experiment was carried out in a raspberry (Heritage) field, located in Valdivia, using an attractant with components similar to the Nassanov gland (Beescent), applied during the second bloom. The honeybee's (Apis mellifera L.) activity was evaluated according to the number of bees and the amount of time spent in the flowers, measured in the morning and the afternoon. The activity in the hive was evaluated by the number of bees that enter and leave/min, and the product's effect on the bee's pollinating activity and on the characteristics of the fruits. The experiment had three treatments: a) Attractant (Beescent) at one rate 4.5 l/ha, b) repellent (Lambda-cihalotrina) or Karate at 1,8 cc/10 l of water, and c) control (water) at 1200 l/ha. The results showed that the number of bees and the time spent in the flowers was significantly greater in the treatments receiving the attractant (Beescent) when compared with the control and repellent treatments. There was no significant difference between the latter. With respect to the activity in the hive it was found to be greater in the morning. The arrival as well as the departure of the bees from the hives is directly related to atmospheric temperature. This influenced to a greater degree bees leaving the hive. A clear relation was found between the attractant (Beescent) and the increase in the quality and the yield of fruits, measuring the width and length of the fruits and the number of drupelets formed. This implies a better and more complete pollination of the raspberry's flowers by honeybees (Apis mellifera L.).
