The degree of sensitivity to infection by pea seed-borne mosaic virus (PSbMV) was determined in 29 pea varieties. The aphis Acyrthosiphon pisum was used for PSbMV transmission. Infected plants were evaluated visually, and symptomless plants were re-tested for the presence of latent infection. The plants were also tested by DAS-ELISA for the presence of virus antigen PSbMV. The tested varieties showed various degrees of sensitivity to PSbMV; none was immune to infection; the variety Bornella had 100 % sensitivity to infection, while the lowest degree of sensitivity was observed in the varieties Radovan, Triton, Solara, Tiny, Banff, and Scout; the other varieties had various degree of intermediate sensitivity. Varieties with a low degree of sensitivity could be used as parents for breeding of new pea varieties.
