Landwirtschaftliche Entwicklungspotentiale um Dolisie im Kongo. Eine Fallstudie im Einzugsgebiet einer Kleinstadt.
1995
Knierim A.
In and around Dolisie, a small town in the southwest of the People's Republic of the Congo, agriculture can be divided into three concentric circles. In the town and on the fringes of the town, market gardening takes place on suitable land. Within a radius of 10 to 15 km, the urban population mainly engages in cassava growing for subsistence and plantation farming. In a third circle within a radius of up to 50 km from Dolisie, cash crops such as cassava, bananas, tomatoes and chili are produced. It is mainly in the latter area that agriculture offers medium and long-term development prospects. This development is to be promoted both through extension programs in production techniques geared to the existing ecological problems and through the spread and improvement of cassava processing technology. The agricultural extension programs should target the population groups engaging in agriculture in an innovative way: generally not the young people, but the "middle" generation.
