The present study was undertaken to determine the reliability of the ELISA method in a routine laboratory screening of rhizomania tolerant sugar beet strains. This method is compared with field trial results in rhizomania conditions. Statistical analyses indicate significant correlations between virus recovered from tap roots in greenhouse and the usual yield parameters in the field for the same strains.
