Manual methods for semen analysis are very useful to obtain general information of the sample. However, due to the subjectivity of these techniques, it has been a poor predictor of fertility potential. Computer technology has developed a system to analyze sperm motility. Since the pioneer works in human in 1984, the accuracy of semen evaluation has been improving. This technology has been applied in domestic animals with similar positive results too. The system has just been recently introduced for animal semen analysis at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico due to the importance to offer a qualified semen evaluation, either for research, or the public or private clinical services. Computer Assisted Semen analysis system can visualize and digitize the sperm images. Thereafter, process and analize these images and report about: Sperm concentration, sperm motion patterns, sperm motility, sperm curvilinar trajectory, straight line sperm velocity and sperm linear trajectory.
