Chlorpyrifos is active against brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens, and small brown planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus, two important pests of rice, but relatively weak against green leafhopper, Nephotettix cincticeps. Field studies were conducted on rice at Pintung [Taiwan] in 1986 to assess the activity of various ratios of chlorpyrifos plus acephate mixtures and data are presented showing satisfactory control of all three pests. A mixture of chlorpyrifos 562 g ai/ha plus acephate 187 g ai/ha was very effective.
