An oesophageal crop study was carried out in scavenging laying hens to determine the nutrient available in their feed. The crude protein, crude fibre, ether extract, ash, nitrogen free extract, calcium and phosphorus percent were determined in the feed collected from crop and gizzard. The crude protein content (9.16%) of Botyaghata site in summer was significantly higher (P<0.05) than all other sites in all seasons. But the crude protein content in summer was significantly (P<0.05) higher in all sites than the two other seasons. The maximum crude fibre (P<0.05) was found at Botyaghata during summer. The crude fibre content was found about double than the standard requirement in all sites. The calcium content of the feed of scavenging laying hens at different sites was found close to the standard requirement of the laying hen but the phosphorus was deficient which results imbalanced Ca and P ratio in the feed. The most common feed items found in the crop and gizzard were whole rice grain, boiled rice and vegetable materials. The feed obtained through scavenging were deficient in crude protein and the crude fibre was found double than the standard requirement. The calcium and phosphorus ratio was not found balance in the feed.
