Coconut residue presscake in broiler rations.
1986
Gerpacio A.L.
Chemical analysis of coconut residues is presented. The residues were subsequently used to replace equivalent amounts of corn by weight (25%, 15%) in broiler rations containing 50% yellow corn as control. Effects of mash versus pelleting were also compared. It was found that use of high-fat cocopress residues appeared to be feasible up to 25% in the ration or 50% replacement of corn, if pelleted, without impairing feed efficiency. The same level, if given in mash form, depressed liveweight gain by about 18%. Low fat residues can be used at lower levels (10 or 15% in rations). Use of low-pressure screw press instead of the high-pressure Krans-Maffer press is recommended.
