Research made during the last 30 years in the Razelm-Sinoe lake complex revealed a quick water demineralisation after irrigation use, and a communication stop during their flow to the sea. Meanwhile, this demineralisation did not affect the less circulated parts of Babadag, Zmeica and Golovita lakes, where water changes acted slowly. In these places, saline concentrations were high. The authors emphasize that the salinity level maintained here is a result of big salt amounts stored at the seaside, which contributed to water resalinisation (especially drought years). Consequently, the irrigation water quality is still low.
