On a suitable object, on hydromorphic soils of Slavonia (Yugoslavia) where the drainage was carried out, the following was investigated: the change of the groundwater level on the non-drained and drained soils with different characteristics and on drained soils with various interspace of drainpipes; time of the occurrence and the duration of intolerably high groundwater level in relation to the phases of development of the cultivated crops; quantity of water which flew out from drainpipes; interdependence of precipitations and the outflow of water from drainpipes; evaluation of the possibility for the occurrence of high groundwaters; general improvement of water and air regime of soil; effect of the water content and drainage upon the yield of growing crops.
