Laporan intensifikasi dan pemanfaatan paket teknologi budidaya serta pasca panen tanaman jahe di Bengkulu.
1992
Bengkulu province is one of the main producing areas of ginger especially Var. Gajah (Jahe Besar) both for market and plant materials. In an attempt to develop ginger plantation in Indonesia, a large number of plant material is taken from Bengkulu which then caused problems in getting good material locally. One of the main constraints of ginger cultivation in Bengkulu is losses caused by insects and diseases. Various aspects of technology comprising strategy for controlling pests, improving cultivation techniques and post harvest technology, are initiated. The experiment showed a significant interaction between liming and fertilizer application. The production per hectare on liming area was higher. The highest production (20.60 ton/ha) was produced from application of NPK fertilizers (200 kg urea + 200 kg TSP + 200 kg KCl) and liming. From this experiment, it was suggested that nitrogen fertilizer should only be given three times. Organic fertilizer improved the growth and rhizome production. The best planting space was 40 cm between rows and 30-40 cm within plant rows. The use of Agrimycine 1 g/l prevented bacterial wilt giving a better yield of green rhizome (330 g/plant) than other treatments.
