Strangles in horse studs - incidence, risk factors and effect of vaccination [Streptococcus infection; New South Wales].
1990
Jorm L.R.
In a questionnaire survey of 179 studs, an average incidence of 2.1 cases per 100 horses per year was found; the risk of an outbreak increased with the number of horses kept, and certain types of feeders, fences and water services were associated with high risk. When all factors are taken into account, there was no evidence of benefit from vaccination.
