The effects of six antimicrobial agents : chloramphenicol, Erythromycin, Neomycin, Oxytetracycline, Sulfadiazine and Trimethoprim, to the Aeromonas hydrophilainfection were studied in Catfish (Clarias batrachus) age 4-5 months, The fiberglass tank (24x24x19 inches) were used and in containing 50 liters of tap water at27-28 deg. centigrade, pH6.98-7.53. The fishes were devided into 32 groups, eachgroup contained 5 fishes. Twenty fishes (4 groups) were control groups which were injected with 0,2 c.c. normal saline intraperitoneally. Seventy fishes (14 groups) were control groups which were injected with 0.2 c.c. Aeromonas hydrophilassuspension (10 to the power 18 cells) intraperitoneally. The last 12 groups were injected with 0.2 c.c. Aeromonas hydrophila (10 to the power 18 cells) intraperitoneally and treated with six antimicrobial (2 groups per 1 type of antimicrobial agent) by mixed with feed for seven days. the mortality were recorded everyday. The results indicated that Erythromycin and Neomycin were the most effective.Chloramphenicol was more effective than sulfadiazine. Oxtetracycline and Trimethoprim were not effective.
