This present study was conducted in Wadi el Azeeb station in the Syrian steppe to investigate the preference of browse species as affected by year, season and supplements, using the cafeteria method. Difference in browse consumption between years, seasons and supplements were highly significant. Phenology and stage of growth of Atriplex species among seasons may give reason for selectivity. Fresh annual, perennial, and forbs and their dry residues were preferred during the dry season with a minor role for browse. It was concluded that Atriplex species may successfully supplement poor quality roughages.
