The present study examines the economic aspects of artifical insemination in the intensive cattle development project, Gurgaon (Haryana) using frozen semen technology on the basis of data pertaining to the period 1982-83. The cost per insemination comprising cost of bull maintenance, semen collection, processing, freezing and storage, transportation and administering the semen doses for cow and buffalo (without accounting for the loss of semen) were Rs. 75.51 and Rs. 72.83 at the main centre and Rs. 77.78 and Rs. 75.10 at the subcentre. The cost can be reduced by more efficient use of manpower and increase in the number of inseminations at the field centres.
