Roughages being harvested and preserved according to various methods - traditionally dried hay on the surface of meadow, hay dried according to the active ventilation methods and silages were evaluated in 13 farms. The following determinations were made: dry matter content, crude protein, crude fiber, crude ash, nitrogen-free extracts and fat level in relation to absolute dry matter. The final stage of the studies was the examination of the feed value in animal production. The fattened and dairy cattle and the sheep were fed with these feeds and the gains in body weight and milk production were determined.
