Individual food intake for up to a 4 day period is analyzed for kilocalories, protein, fat, carbohydrate, cholesterol, seven vitamins and four minerals. Height, weight and physical activity level are used to estimate caloric requirement. Food items are directly entered by selecting food groups and subgroups identified by numbers. The user selects the correct number, then enters the number of servings. Up to 35 food items can be entered for each day of intake. Errors must be corrected during data entry. Values for 11 nutrients are displayed for both actual intake and the RDA's along with the percentage of RDA achieved. Suggested and actual intakes of calories, sodium and cholesterol, and the percentage contributions of the macronutrients to total calories are displayed. When selected nutrient intake falls short of the standard, messages are printed which flag the nutrient and list food sources. The database contains 600 foods which are listed alphabetically in the user's manual.
