A technical report delineates the nutritional value of breast milk and the rationale for breast feeding of infants from a public health perspective. Attention is focused on: the composition of human breast milk; the advantages/disadvantages of breast feeding; drugs excreted in human breast milk; breast feeding management; and the nutritional and immunological benefits of breast feeding for infants. The effects of ethical drugs in human breast milk on infants are detailed and tabulated.(wz).
