The effect of sowing and fertilization on grain yield of Yugoslav perennial grass varieties had been studied at the Kopaonik mountain, Yugoslavia (1100 m a.s.l.). The highest grain yield was registered for the cockfoot variety K-6 in the third experimental year and was 3-year average at the sowing rate of 545 kg and NPK application in the ratio 120:60:60 kg/ha, respectively, in a box experiment (40x40 cm). In the second experimental year, the highest grain yield (610 kg/ha) was reported for the Timothy grass variety K-15 at the sowing distance of 40 cm and NPK application in the ratio 100:50:50 kg/ha, respectively. However, the highest grain yield was registered already in the first experimental year with the red festuca variety K-14. Its 3-year average was 642 kg/ha at the sowing distance of 15 cm and NPK application in the ratio 80:50:50 kg/ha, respectively.
