This paper presents the results of investigating the characteristics of the Tilapia zilli species from 2 ecologically different lakes:the brackish Manzalah and salty Qarun lakes in Egypt. The salinity of the Manzalah lake is 1-10 g/kg and of Qarun 30 g/kg. Tilapia species makes 75% of the fish yield of the Manzalah lake. The following values of the number of gill rakers were obtained:the Manzalah lake:S1 =1.463; S2 =2.488; V =1.7. Regarding LT(total body length), this character shows a linear relationship. The Qarun lake:The fish have a constant number of gill rakers, rakers, regarding LT. The following results for the number of vertebra were obtained:the Manzalah lake:V =0.3562, the Qarun Lake:V =0.1957. The fin formulae are: the Manzalah lake:D:15+12/15+11;P:13/14; A:3+9;V:1+5. The Qarun lake:D:16+13/15+12;P:14/13; A:3+9; V:1+5. The preorbital distance:LT - the relationship unchanged, regarding the body length, higher values are in the Manzalah lake. Head length: LT - the relationship completely harmonious in both lakes, the values higher in the Manzalah lake. Body height:head length, body height:LT, interorbital distance:head length, interorbital distance:LT and head length:LT are higher in the Manzalah lake. The mouth length:interorbital distance-higher values in the Qarun lake. V length:LT - harmonious only up to 13 cm length, values higher in the Manzalah lake. Caudal fin length:LT - harmonious only in fish 5-10 cm, values higher in the Manzalah lake. Eye diameter:LT - harmonious only in length groups 10-16 and 20-30 cm, higher values is the Manzalah lake.
