Rations for growing pigs should not contain more than 3 to 4 mmol glucosinolates per kg. Currently only low-glucosinolate rapeseed by-products are available on the market. Taking into account some precautions, such by-products may be fed, either dry or wet, as meal or presscake to pigs up to an inclusion rate of 10 % without risking negative effects. An appropriate heat and steam treatment further reduces the glucosinolate content. By means of such a procedure it is possible to raise the feeding limit of rapeseed by-products in fattening rations to 15 %.
