Broody hens confined in individual cages (T1) required 5 days to break up their broodiness, 5.2 days for hens bathed for about 5 minutes (T2) and 5.2 days for those confined in a pen with a rooster (T3). The number of non-broody days before an egg was laid was noticed to be highest (6 days) in treatment 3 followed by treatment 2 (5.6 days), and the lowest was in treatment 1 (3.8 days). The native hens took 8-15 days to return to production, depending upon the manner the broody hens were treated. T1, T2, and T3 returned to production in 8.8, 10.8, and 11.2 days, respectively. The number of days of production ranged from 12-37 days. T1, T2, T3 had stayed in production for 20.4, 30 and 18.5 production days, respectively. The eggs produced by native birds before the onset of the next broody period was observed for ranging from 2-28 eggs. T1, T2, T3 had produced 8-17, 17-28, and 2-14 eggs respectively. The mean egg weights laid by the hens in treatment 1, 2, and 3 were 41.63, 43.78 and 39.81 g, respectively. The interval between two broody periods was observed to range from 16-42 days. Highest interval was noticed in T2 (partial date) 34.5 days, followed by the T1, 24.2 days and T3, 24 days (partial data).
