A new bacterial disease on IR-64 rice variety called Bacterial Red stripe (BRS) has been found in Pabuaran, Subang, Jawa Barat on Juli 1, 1987. To determine the reaction of some varieties of rice to that pathogen, some studies has been conducted in the laboratory and green house of Bogor Agricultural University. The data was analyzed by using non factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD). The number of rice varieties tested to this BRS were 30, each treatment was replicated 3 times. The results showed that 18 of 30 rice varieties were resistant (R) and the last 12 varieties were moderately resistant (MR).
